Jani Revier, Idaho native and former special projects manager to Congressman Mike Simpson, was appointed today to become the new administrator of the State Division of Financial Management. Revier replaces Wayne Hammon, who resigned in September to become executive director of the Idaho Associated General Contractors. Revier will be the first woman ever to serve as the Idaho's state budget director.
Revier, whose appointment must be confirmed by the State Senate, will have her work cut out for her. Her highest profile task will come in the first few weeks of 2013, when her office unveils a proposed spending plan for Fiscal Year 2014.
Prior to her years with Simpson, Revier served as legislative director and deputy chief of staff to then-Congressman Butch Otter from 2001-2006. She began her career in public service as legislative assistant to then-U.S. Sen. Larry Craig.
