Boise Police: Two Break-Ins, Two Busts



John Lam, 24, is charged with 20 counts of forgery and grand theft.

Boise Police said they busted a man for allegedly stealing checks from victims, all known by the suspect, and using the checks to forge more checks totaling more than $4,000. Law enforcement said 24-year-old John Lam of Boise stole the checks from a home on the 1000 block of North Aster Avenue on Dec. 5 and then forged multiple checks the same day.

Lam was booked into the Ada County Jail, facing 20 felony counts of forgery and 20 counts of grand theft.

Curtis Smither, 29, is charged with robbery and probation violation.

Boise Police report that they also acted on an outstanding felony warrant Thursday. Police said an investigation from Ada County prosecutors alleges that 29-year-old Curtis Smither of Nampa broke into a Boise home, threatened the occupants and made off with several personal items.

Smither is charged with felony counts of robbery and probation violation.
