Timothy Ganley, 22, is charged with grand theft.

Boise Police reported this morning that they took 22-year-old Timothy Ganley of Boise into custody on Dec. 3 for allegedly stealing books from a local book store over a two- to three-week period and then returning them for cash. The value of the books was in excess of $1,000.

Ganley is charged with a felony count of grand theft.

Bryan Jacobs, 36, is charged with grand theft, burglary, and aggravated assault.

Additionally, Boise Police report that they cuffed an alleged burglar in the early morning hours of Dec. 4 after the suspected thief threatened his alleged victim with a knife, chasing him through a West Boise neighborhood.

Police were called by several witnesses Tuesday morning, saying a man was being chased by another man on the 7200 block of West Colonial Street. Police said the chase began when a man saw 36-year-old Bryan Jacobs of Nampa rummaging around in the victim's car. When the victim confronted Jacobs, witnesses said Jacobs pulled a knife on the car owner and began chasing him before officers were able to interrupt the confrontation.

Police said after Jacobs repeatedly refused commands to obey, they deployed a Taser before taking him into custody.

Jacobs was charged with grand theft, burglary, aggravated assault and resisting and obstructing officers.
