On Monday, Nov. 26, Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and first lady Lori Otter will kick off the holiday season at the Idaho State Capitol with the annual tree-lighting ceremony.
“We are looking forward to a fun evening to kick off the holiday season with good cheer, great music and charitable giving. This is a wonderful time for families and friends to gather together for good company and goodwill," said Otter in a press release.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with hot chocolate, cookies and cider available on the Capitol steps. The 25th Army Band will provide the entertainment before the tree-lighting begins at 5:30 p.m. Choirs from the Cecil D. Andrus Elementary School and Coeur d'Alene High School will accompany the ceremony.
The Otters will also help launch the Make-a-Wish foundation's Season of Giving campaign, handing out free books for children.
