Boise Police: Cap May Be Critical Clue to Monkey Death at Zoo Boise

This gray cap was discovered at Zoo Boise on November 17.

Boise Police are focusing attention on a baseball cap in their effort to find the men who broke into Zoo Boise early Saturday in connection with the violent beating death of a Patas monkey.

Grief cast a long shadow over the zoo as staff and visitors mourned the death of the monkey, which was discovered with blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Two men were spotted by a security guard near Zoo Boise's perimeter fence but police were unable to find the suspects.

But an important clue surfaced by daylight: a gray baseball cap with the design of a skull and wing on the right front of the cap. The cap also had some red markings on the forehead of the skull, perhaps someone's initials or an insignia.

Anyone with information on the cap or the crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.
