In September, a group of Middleton residents—and some who don't live in the municipality—launched a recall effort, hoping to haul Mayor Darin Taylor away from City Hall for allegedly wasting taxpayer dollars, hiring unqualified people, and holding a series of secret meetings.
The charges were presented to the Canyon County Prosecutor's Office which, in turn, pushed the matter over to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office to conduct an outside investigation.
But Friday afternoon, Ada County Prosecutor Greg Bower issued a brief statement to Citydesk and area media that, simply put, stated that Taylor was not guilty of any criminal wrongdoing.
“I am not surprised by the findings,” Taylor is quoted as saying in this morning's Idaho Press-Tribune. “I am pleased with the investigation and the thoroughness. There are some city residents and non-city residents that want to hold me to standards of what they would like the law to be rather than what it actually is."
