Canyon County Judge, Facing DUI Charge, Announces Retirement

Renae Hoff, the 3rd District Judge who was arrested in August on suspicion of driving under the influence, has announced that she will be hanging up her robe effective Jan. 4, 2013.

Hoff faces a Tuesday, Dec. 4 trial on a misdemeanor offense of DUI. Hoff, 61, was busted by Meridian Police who said they could smell alcohol when they pulled her vehicle over near Ten Mile Road and Acarrera Court Aug. 25. Hoff also failed a field sobriety test.

Hoff was appointed to the bench in 1990 and also serves on Canyon County's Mental Health Court.

The Idaho Judicial Council, which will continue to take applications for Hoff's seat until Friday, Nov. 9, will meet Thursday, Dec. 6 to interview candidates.
