A company that manufactures Banana Boat sunscreen has instituted a recall after reports that a handful of users caught fire after applying the product and coming in contact with open flame.
UltraMist Sport, UltraMist Ultra Defense and UltraMist kids products were included in 23 varieties of sunscreen pulled off store shelves because of the fire risk.
Energizer Holdings said five cases of burns sustained after using the product were reported, four in the United States and one in Canada.
According to the company, the spray-on lotion's spray valve is applying too much of the product, and as a result, takes longer to dry when applied. That extra lotion raises the flammability risk when near open flame.
