With only two engines patrolling the area, the Idaho Department of Lands has declared the Karney Fire to be 100 percent contained. The nine-day blaze burned 440 acres of Boise County, forcing the evacuations of 80 homes.
The Karney Fire required more than 350 firefighting personnel, including local, state and federal employees.
Nathaniel Bartholomew, 18, a former volunteer firefighter in the Wilderness Ranch area, is charged with setting the fire, which burned down one residence and threatened dozens more.
The fire is now considered to be in the so-called "monitor status." Officials say that areas that needed to be dozed during the firefight will be seeded again this fall.
