A 9-year-old Lewiston boy was charged by Lewiston Police for petit theft for taking his neighbor's toy.
This morning's Lewiston Tribune reports that when law enforcement showed up at the home of the alleged thief, the boy's father said his son had found a battery-powered ride-on car in a dumpster. The father also said he gave his son some spray paint. Police said the car had been painted in an attempt to disguise it.
The Power Wheels car, valued at approximately $450, went missing from the neighbor's yard in July. The mother of the alleged victim said she called police when she spotted what she thought was the same vehicle at the suspect's home, covered in black spray paint.
