Boise State and the University of Idaho are granting a delayed return to classes for students battling wildfires throughout the region.
“University of Idaho policy does make allowances for our students who are serving in critical capacities on the fire lines,” said Nancy Krogh, University of Idaho registrar.
Boise State also is giving a reprieve to its firefighters, granting extensions through Friday, Sept. 7.
Boise State officials said where possible, "faculty have been asked to allow students to catch up with missed assignments. For courses where it is not reasonable to make up missed assignments, students will be withdrawn from the course without penalty."
