The Trinity Ridge Fire has scorched more than 100 square miles of Elmore County but last night didn't burn a great deal closer to the towns of Featherville and Pine. That doesn't have residents and vacation homeowners any less nervous. They're still on the alert and could be ordered to get out of town if the blaze grows significantly. In the meantime, evacuations are voluntary, and some residents are being allowed to go back to the their homes.

Meanwhile, Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter signed a disaster declaration late Wednesday, triggering the Idaho National Guard's support for fire crews.

To date, the Trinity Ridge blaze has burned 68,000 acres.
