Treasure Valley residents who may rent or own vacation property in the Elmore County communities of Featherville and Pine may be interested to know that the Trinity Ridge Fire has grown significantly in the last 24 hours. As a result, town officials will be meeting with the U.S. Forest Service at 10:30 this morning to discuss plans for evacuating the area. The meeting, deemed "urgent" by USFS, is being held at the Pine Senior Center.
Firefighters say they are changing their "management tactics" today, shifting from perimeter control to structure protection in the Featherville and Pine areas. Meanwhile, crews in the Whiskey Jack Drainage will look for opportunities to slow the fire’s spread utilizing air support, as fire behavior permits.
In the Rocky Bar area, firefighters performed burnout operations Tuesday to protect structures, which at this time, appear to be holding. Crews will continue these efforts today. Currently, all roads to Atlanta remain closed.
The Elmore County Sheriff's Office has closed the road through Pine and Featherville. The towns can only be accessed through the roadblocks. Drivers are required to show proof of residency at the roadblocks before being allowed to enter the area.
