Boise's boys of summer will have plenty to write about when they're asked how they spent their summer vacations.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, who played shortstop growing up in Boise, was made an honorary East Boise Wolf Monday afternoon as he sent off the 12-boy squad, all 12 years old, to the Cal Ripken World Series, which gets under way in Winchester, Mass., on Friday, Aug. 10, and runs until Sunday, Aug. 19.

"Make us proud," said Bieter. "Not just in how you play but in how you treat the other teams, win or lose."

The East Boise 12U team posted a 42-4 regular season record before winning the Idaho state championship and moving on to best teams from Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming to win the Pacific Northwest championship.

The East Boise team includes Sam Barnes, Ayden Callahan, Matt Chambers, Dae Young Kim, Michael O’Brien, Ryan Potter, Jacob Randall, Joe Sullivan, Josh Vaughan, Tomas Vizgirdas, Jake Wojcik, and Zac Zenner.
