CDA Press Identifies Alleged N. Idaho Embezzler

A northern Idaho woman has been singled out by the Coeur d'Alene Press as the prime suspect in a case of embezzlement of thousands of dollars from the city of Coeur d'Alene.

The Press, through a public records request, identified Sheryl Carroll as the woman who was fired from the city's Finance Department on July 24, following allegations of embezzlement. Coeur d'Alene City Attorney Mike Gridley confirmed that the suspected employee was involved in payroll processing and had worked for the city since 2002.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is investigating at least five allegedly fraudulent transactions, and criminal charges could be announced with a few days.
