The homepage of the White Pine Charter School in Ammon reports that Melinda Christensen has taken over as interim principal at the school in the wake of the resignation of Terry Rothamer.

White Pine Charter's board of directors met in emergency session the afternoon of July 23 to consider its options after Rothamer was arrested July 11 in connection with a burglary at an Eastern Idaho restaurant, leading to his resignation. The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office reported that Rothamer appeared to be drunk at the time of his arrest.

A school spokeswoman told the Post Register that Rothamer, who had served as principal at White Pine Charter for three years, resigned voluntarily.

The school's first day of classes is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 23.
