After inmate Richard H. Michalies walked away from his Nampa Community Work Center job on July 12, the 43-year-old turned himself in the next day at around 2:30 p.m. However, he surrendered across the state, at the Kootenai County Jail in Coeur d'Alene.
Michalies was serving a six- to 12-year sentence for forgery convictions in Bonner and Nez Perce counties and was scheduled to be released on June 21, 2015. The Idaho Department of Correction said Michalies will likely face new charges related to his escape.
