This week is beginning right where last week ended: with an air-quality alert for the Treasure Valley.
Today's ozone alert, measuring air quality within the moderate category, bans any outdoor burning in the Ada County area.
The National Weather Service office in Boise is forecasting high temperatures at or near triple digits for the week ahead. Simply put, the weather words are sunny and hot. Additionally, a fire weather watch is in effect today for the Treasure Valley.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Northern Boise BLM and Payette National Forests. A strong trough of unsettled air is expected to sweep across eastern Oregon today and into central Idaho. Forecasters are keeping a close eye for high winds, thunderstorms and lightning to create critical fire weather conditions.
