One week after Idaho Democrats pushed the reset button at their annual state convention, Gem State Republicans are set to hold their annual confab, getting under way today at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.

The Associated Press reports that when platform committees begin meeting this afternoon, delegates will propose up to 16 resolutions, including the abolition of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Education.

Another resolution that proposes a reopening of Idaho's closed Republican primary is expected to surface.

Following a half-dozen committee meetings, the formal general session of the Republican State Convention will convene Friday afternoon and will include updates on Idaho redistricting and the Students Come First reforms from Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna.
