Boise police say that an arsonist is probably responsible for a string of fires set along a 40-foot stretch of the city's Greenbelt on Tuesday afternoon.
Law enforcement said as few as six and as many as 12 separate fires were set on the north side of the Boise River near Shoreline Drive, stretching to west of Americana Boulevard, beneath an overpass. Most of the fires burned grass and/or leaves, but one of the fires burned the trunk of a tree.
Investigators guess that the fires were set just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Anyone with information on who may have started the fires is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
