Lindley Kirkpatrick, the city manager of McCall since July 2004, surprised his Valley County community late Monday, when he handed in his resignation, effective Friday, Aug, 3.
The McCall Star News reports that Kirkpatrick, who previously served as McCall's community development director, submitted his resignation to McCall Mayor Don Bailey and the City Council.
"It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to move on to other opportunities," wrote Kirkpatrick, who said that he is moving his family to Scotland, where his wife will be starting an MBA program at the University of Edinburgh.
Kirkpatrick said his remaining weeks will be focused on the completion of McCall's Fiscal Year 2013 budget.
