The Payette Police Department said it has busted up a middle-school gang that targeted sixth-graders for bullying.
The Argus Observer reports that eight children, seventh- and eighth-graders at the McCain Middle School, face assault and battery charges after police said the youth gang had assaulted sixth-graders in school bathrooms.
Payette Police Chief Mark Clark told the Observer that the eight suspects were temporarily suspended and may be back in school, but they face possible expulsion.
“They are good students who made bad choices,” Clark told the Observer. “They will need to be held accountable for their actions.”
The Idaho Legislature chose not to pass an anti-bullying measure during its 2012 session.
