Video: Occupier Vandalizes Boise Federal Building

Federal and State officials remain very tight-lipped about the incident, but Citydesk has learned that a member of Occupy Boise was detained for spray painting "I am not a terrorist" on the east side of the Federal Building.

Capitol Mall Security have told Citydesk they would have no comment on the incident, which occurred Tuesday, referring all calls to the Idaho Department of Administration. That department would not comment "because it's a pending criminal investigation." Citydesk also spoke to representatives at the Federal Building, who said they, too, were investigating.

The identity of the man remains unknown, but according to a Federal Building security guard, the vandalism occurred on the building's windows. The graffiti has since been removed.

A video of the incident was released via Idaho Calling (it's posted below). In it, the perpetrator proclaims, “Obama signed 1867,” referencing the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act. Then he goes on to say, “You want to see terrorism. … We got some spray paint and that’s it. Go ahead, send me to fucking Guantanamo Bay. …"

After a few more choice words, the video shows the man sneaking around the Federal Building and spray painting on it.

The Idaho State Police paid a visit to the Occupy Boise encampment Tuesday and questioned a few of the protesters.

“Just because it was a member of Occupy Boise that did do it, it still was not an Occupy-sanctioned action," Occupier Glen “Angel” Garity told Citydesk.

Garity added: “I’m sure we’re going to get some heat because of it. But the cops know who did it, and for what reason.”

At least one occupy supporter stated very clearly on twitter yesterday that he supported this vandalism.

Justin, what I said was "I kinda like it." Now that I know more, I still kinda like it, especially since he chose windows which are easy to clean.

I figured you would stand behind what you said.

I approve of the action, but the way it was done (video taping it) was sloppy and stupid. I would like everyone who reads this to think long and hard about the fact that spray painting a building is now considered an act of terrorism.

The true vandalism is what is being done to our Constitution and our Civil Liberties.

You've got to be kidding me. This guy is an idiot! Its one thing to protest your cause, its another to deface public property. Boise is a beautiful place to live and if I ever saw someone spray painting/defacing private or public property I would have handed their butts to them. Boise does NOT need to turn into another LA or graffiti infested city.

I agree. I don't condone the action, but I am keeping things in perspective.

People really need to stop supporting and making excuses for Obama at this point. I understand the appeal and the desire to have someone as far from Bush as possible (believe me, I get that). Unfortunately Obama and Bush are two peas in a pea container. Saying that he'd _never use_ the indefinite detention without due process is either bullshit or naive...even if he's genuine, what about the next guy? Bush should never have won re-election in 2004 - Obama needs to be removed this year. It's not a Democrat/Republican thing - it's sending a message that we're awake and watching. Unfortunately, many (most?) aren't.

Obama is just another Chauncey Gardiner for the needy who want provisions supplied and risk removed. Humans are flawed and government is run by humans. The bigger the government, the greater the corruption. Party or Ideology is irrelevant. Those that look to government to purify and remove corruption are ignorant to what history says.

We need effective, efficient and small government. Things are out of control and getting worse. The Left giggles.…

Oh, and by the way, Ron Paul is sounding more and more like the new and repackaged Lyndon Larouche for the college kids.

Oh, 5folds... if only you thought that way about corporations and the banks too. Corporations also want provisions supplied and risk removed. Humans are flawed and [corporations] are run by humans.

Why can't people make the connections between bad big government and bad big business.

Dan, its because people fear Socialism will lead to Communism. Look at what happened with Russia during the USSR time period.

I love reading comment sections. Here you have people on the far left saying Obama is just another Bush. Then you have people saying he's the devil for being too "big government" and liberal. My take is that if you have people on both extremes saying you're too far the other way... you're probably right about where you should be.

Well, for one. This moron is not, I repeat, NOT from Occupy Boise. Hes just some idiot that is trying to make Occupy look bad. I wouldn't be a bit surprized if he were put up to this by some big uppity up who is trying all the more to down play Occupy Boise's movement. With that, City Desk didn't have to repeat word for word what this low life said about telling the authorities to go ahead and send him to Guntanamo by spelling certain words out right.
