Video: Occupier Vandalizes Boise Federal Building

Federal and State officials remain very tight-lipped about the incident, but Citydesk has learned that a member of Occupy Boise was detained for spray painting "I am not a terrorist" on the east side of the Federal Building.

Capitol Mall Security have told Citydesk they would have no comment on the incident, which occurred Tuesday, referring all calls to the Idaho Department of Administration. That department would not comment "because it's a pending criminal investigation." Citydesk also spoke to representatives at the Federal Building, who said they, too, were investigating.

The identity of the man remains unknown, but according to a Federal Building security guard, the vandalism occurred on the building's windows. The graffiti has since been removed.

A video of the incident was released via Idaho Calling (it's posted below). In it, the perpetrator proclaims, “Obama signed 1867,” referencing the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act. Then he goes on to say, “You want to see terrorism. … We got some spray paint and that’s it. Go ahead, send me to fucking Guantanamo Bay. …"

After a few more choice words, the video shows the man sneaking around the Federal Building and spray painting on it.

The Idaho State Police paid a visit to the Occupy Boise encampment Tuesday and questioned a few of the protesters.

“Just because it was a member of Occupy Boise that did do it, it still was not an Occupy-sanctioned action," Occupier Glen “Angel” Garity told Citydesk.

Garity added: “I’m sure we’re going to get some heat because of it. But the cops know who did it, and for what reason.”
