Plans for 8th and Main will be considered at this weeks Design Review Committee meeting
  • Plans for "The Hole" at Eighth and Main streets will be considered at this week's city Design Review Committee meeting.

When Boise's Design Review Committee meets this Wednesday, it will have only one item on its agenda, but it's a big one.

The Gardner Company and Zions Bank will be laying out their plans for a new 15-story tower at Eighth and Main in Boise, better known as "The Hole," which hasn't seen any business since a fire destroyed the Eastman building on the site in 1987.

Plans for the new building, which would house the Idaho headquarters of Zions Bank, also include two stories of retail, three levels of parking, and a so-called "Founders Room" on the penthouse floor, available to the public for meetings and receptions.

Construction for the building is expected to begin within five months, but only after a series of administrative hurdles are cleared, beginning with this week's design review.
