In the first few days of an end-of-summer DUI crackdown, a special law-enforcement task force hauled in 36 individuals this past weekend. Traditionally, about 20-25 people are charged with DUI in Ada County during a weekend. But a federal grant has pumped up extra DUI patrols for the special crackdown, which runs through Labor Day.
Officers from Boise, Caldwell, Garden City, Meridian, Nampa and Idaho State Police focused on the Boise-Garden City area. Two arrests came as the result of citizen tips to 911. One suspect arrested Friday night blew almost four times the blood-alcohol content limit of .08.
The stepped-up enforcement will continue on Friday, Sept. 2, which begins the long holiday weekend.
