The CEO of McDonalds told shareholders today that Ronald McDonald isn't going anywhere, and it's ultimately up to parents to decide what their kids eat.

Yesterday, watchdog group Corporate Accountability International placed ads in hundreds of U.S. newspapers, asking the fast food giant to stop marketing to children and retire Ronald McDonald as its mascot. McDonald's Corp. CEO Jim Skinner said Ronald "is an ambassador for good." At the same session, investors rejected a proposal that would have required the company to issue a report outlining its role in childhood obesity and other health matters.

McDonald's stock jumped 54 cents to $82.04 per share after the vote results were announced.
