As part of a nationwide Medicaid fraud settlement, Idaho will collect nearly $1 million from Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics.

Novartis was alleged to have promoted the use of a cystic fibrosis drug, tobramycin, for uses not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Novartis will pay more than $72 million in the settlement to all 50 states. Idaho's share of $985,105 will be divided between the Medicaid division of the Department of Health and Welfare and the state's general fund.
