Democratic Senate challenger Tom Sullivan is accusing incumbent Sen. Mike Crapo of taking PAC money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, while blaming the programs for the mortgage crisis.
"Crapo had 41,500 reasons to ignore what Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were doing to ruin our economy," said Sullivan.
Sullivan said Crapo's "Freedom Fund" has accepted $35,000 from Fannie and Freddie political action committees, and Crapo's campaign has accepted $6,500 from the same PACs.
In April, Crapo said "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac stand out as the source of the greatest taxpayer losses" in the mortgage crisis.
""It looks like Mike Crapo was always more interested in cashing their checks than in checking their abuses," said Sullivan.
