The U.S. House passed the latest extension for federal jobless figures, sending the measure to President Barack Obama who is expected to sign it immediately.
Idaho Congressman Walt Minnick was one of only 10 Democrats to vote against the measure, which passed 272-152. Republican Rep. Mike Simpson also voted no. Earlier, Idaho Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch also opted not support the bill which extends benefits for those who have already used up their standard 26 weeks of unemployment.
It's estimated that 5,500 Idahoans have exhausted their state and federal unemployment benefits, and that number could swell to close to 30,000 over the next several months.
