In his State of the County speech today, Ada County Commission Chairman Fred Tilman announced the formation of the Ada County Open Space Task Force. All six of the county's cities, the Boise Chamber of Commerce, Building Contractors of Idaho, local business organizations, and environmental groups have agreed to participate, Tilman said. Their job, he said, is to analyze the county's existing open space and identify critical areas for preservation.
"That's the easy part," Tilman said. "What comes next is figuring out how to preserve those areas, either through conservation easements, new development requirements, land swaps, or all-out purchase," he said.
"This group will develop a plan to ensure these identified open spaces are all inter-connected, better establishing a network of trails, natural habitat and developed green-space that will further enhance our quality of life," Tilman said.
