Kenneth Vivier, 51, is charged with aggravated assault and probation violation.

A Boise man is behind bars in connection with an early morning assault in downtown Boise.

Boise police said they responded to a report of an altercation in the area of 16th and Front Streets early Friday. That's where a victim told police he was in Rhodes Park when he became involved in a dispute with the suspect, who was well known to him. The suspect told police that, at one point, the suspect produced a knife and threatened him with it.

Police say the suspect, still in the park, appeared to be very intoxicated.

A check through Boise city records indicated the suspect had a warrant for his arrest on probation violation charges. Offices also recovered a knife from the suspect.

Kenneth Vivier, 51, was sent to the Ada County Jail and was booked on a felony count of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge in connection with the probation violation.
